Cactii

It always amazes me how a cactus would flower in one night and the next morning it’s flower wilts and dies.

Quite a while ago I had this San Pedro cactus that grew in our garden. One day it started making a very tiny little bud. At first I was not sure what it was, but eventually the bud became bigger until one day the magical moment came. Compare it to the bricks in the background to get an idea of the size of this flower.

The other day I saw this one at a friend’s house. Unfortunately I only had my cellphone with me to take the pics so apologies for the quality. I don’t know what kind of cactus this is.

If you are interested in pre-historic plants, a client of mine specialises in taking photos of these plants out in the wilderness. You can view them on his site and even buy posters of them. His site is called Wild Portraits.
