Just came back from watching The Golden Compass. I’m very much one for fantasy and thought this movie to be quite excellent.
Apparently it’s part of a trilogy written by author Philip Pullman. The movie is directed by Chris Weitz and features stars like, Nicole Kidman and Daniel Craig.
The movie starts off with an explanation that there are many parallel
universes and that the one in which the movie is set, people do not
have their souls inside their bodies as in our world, but everyone has,
what they call ‘daemons’, which are in fact animals, that walk around
with them.
From there it follows the normal fantasy line of a chosen one that goes
on a quest. Must say I am quite looking forward to the next episode in
the series.
And of course there has to be the normal controversy around a movie
like this. People of the christian denomination are protesting against
the movie and trying to set up a petition to boycott it. I did a quick Google and saw that apparently the author is an atheist, so I can just imagine where the whole thing started.
Visit the movie’s official site: The Golden Compass.

A very nice movie. Having read the book, the movie has left a bit out. But a 10 hour book condensed into an hour ??
The producers of the movie could not have asked for a better publicity campaign,
Just think
I got myself into trouble here for enjoying the movie:
