The Ox Braai at Bathurst

So a friend of mine told me of the Ox Braai at Bathurst near Port Alfred. I’ve heard of it before but have never been there. So we decided to take the trip and go find out what it is all about.We got there a bit late. There were people everywhere and finding parking was no easy task. People just park their cars in any gap they can find. The big worry is, will I be able to get out in the morning.
After negotiating with some really drunk people that it will be possible for me to manoeuvre my car in if they moved theirs slightly we managed to get a fairly good spot.

Roving around we also found that some friends of ours were parked right by us. Think about it this way. 6000 people make how many cars?

The Ox Braai is just that. It’s an Ox Braai. There are huge fires with meat being braaied all over the place. Cover charge at the gate gets you in, pays for your parking and also your food.
There were some live bands (apparently, I never saw them) and later on some DJ’s. People get very trashed and it gets quite debauched.

We moved around quite a bit and had some pleasant conversations at various fires.

All in all a good experience. Worth checking out if you’re up for a wild party.

    Was ok al daar toe ek ‘n student was en ekt gesweer NOOIT OOIT weer nie!! Dit was ‘n aaklige experience … daar was net beskonke studente ORALS en mens kon natuurlik nie slaap nie want die mense het geraas tot die son opkom. Sorry maar ox braai sien my nooit weer nie!
