After having moved to St Francis recently I thought it a good idea to create a community website. There aren’t really many of them around on the web so I’m kind of trying to jump the gun.
St Francis is situated on the Garden Route in Eastern Cape, South Africa.I’ve Googled for St Francis Web Designer, but have not really come up with much. So I hope to jump the gun on this one.
St Francis Bay is the main town here with Cape St Francis and Port St Francis as suburbs (I think, don’t quote me on that).

The idea for the site came from the MyPE website which is run by a good friend of mine. When I mentioned to him that I am moving here, the first idea that came to mind of course is, is there a community site for St Francis?

So it’s up and running and I hope it will be successful. You can view it by clicking here, St Francis Community Website and it’s called MyStFrancis.

St Francis Bay is one of those undiscovered secrets of the Eastern Cape. Only an hour’s drive from Port Elizabeth, it boasts one of the finest pieces of coastline along the Garden Route.Situated about a 30 minute drive from Jeffreys Bay, St Francis Bay is also about 5km from Cape St Francis and between the two is now nested the picturesque Port St Francis.

Of late, the community has been growing quite a lot. This might be related to the addition of the St Francis Links, right by the entrance to St Francis Bay. Fijnbosch Estate has recently been developed on The Links. It is a very luxurious golf estate. For more information on Fijnbosch, you can contact Pin High Property Group.

As a tourist, there is a lot of attractions in and around St Francis Bay. If you want to pay it a visit, there is more than enough accommodation to be found. You can also visit Info St Francis Bay for more info.

Hope everyone had a great New Years. For the first time in year’s we decided to go away for a change.
We were lucky enough to find space on very short notice at a place called Rocky Ridge Guest Farm just outside Port Alfred in the Eastern Cape.
We were a group of 12 and left on the 30th of December.
Arriving there we had some difficulty finding the place as they have no sign outside.
We were greeted by the owners right outside our cabins.

From the balcony we could see all the way to Port Alfred which is about 4km’s away from Rocky Ridge.
Everything was catered for, as should be expected from self catering accommodation. We all shared two cabins situated right next to each other. One of them had a TV and microwave. The cabins are rather small, especially the doors and shower, which seemed to have been built with dwarves and children in mind. Being 6’6″, I found this rather irritating.

There is also a self-service bar, pool and braai area about a 200m walk from the cabins. We made full use of this of course. This is a really nice entertainment area. With the only drawback being having to walk back in the dark.

We made a potjie on New Years and besides bringing our own food and potjie didn’t really need anything else.
One other drawback that comes to mind is the fact that there is no sleeping late nursing a babelas as the cabins have tin roofs. As soon as the sun comes up, the cabins become big saunas. There are fans in the rooms, but these are not adequate enough to dispel the heat.

Over all a good time was had by all. I would definitely recommend Rocky Ridge Guest Farm if you are going to make full use of all six beds per unit. For that they are not badly priced and the price is equal to what you get for your money.

They do not have their own website, but you can find out more about them here, Rocky Ridge Guest Farm.

I’m always the first to rant & rave about bad service. Why? Well I feel if I pay for something, I should get what I pay for. If I get it at a discounted rate, then fine, bad service is excusable, but if you are going to charge me exorbitant prices, then you must show me what it is I’m paying for.
So all that aside. For the very first time in years, I have experienced absolutely, marvelously professional service. Eastern Cape Motors in Newton Park, Port Elizabeth. They’ve given me hope that good service hasn’t become a mere pipe dream here in South Africa. For a while now I have been trying to get financing for a new vehicle. All the places I tried I have not been successful. I have tried all avenues, even registered on McArthy Call-a-car, but no success.
I was just about to give up when I saw the advertisement on television for the Ford Bantam. So I took a chance, went on the website and saw that they are running a special currently on the Bantam’s.
The next day at about noon I phoned Eastern Cape Motors, to enquire. (they seem to be the only Ford dealership in our area)
Immediately I got through to their financing guy who took all my particulars over the telephone. The following morning just after 8am I got a call to tell me my financing has been approved. By lunch time the following day I was driving my new car. That is 48 hours from enquiry to done deal!
I am still amazed. Except for getting me the financing super-fast, they also gave me a number for a guy to get hold of a second-hand canopy for the bakkie, as I just just could not manage to get that squeezed into the financing. And also because I was referred by the salesmen to Beekman Canopies for mounting the canopy, they mounted it for free.

This is my first new vehicle I have purchased, but I can almost bet you, when the time comes again, there is only one place I will go.
Thank you Tony and Waldo for an amazing customer experience, and best of luck to you guys.
