Touch Screen stolen from Liquid in St Francis Bay

Recently Liquid, a pub in St Francis Bay, was re-opened by one of the locals. It is a great place to hang out and offers a wide variety of entertainment, including a pool table, live acts and cocktails.

Unfortunately even a place like St Francis Bay has its bad elements. Liquid also has (had) one of those coin operated touch screens that offers a variety of games. Recently someone thought it would be funny to steal this machine.

There is a reward on offer for the return of this machine. NO questions asked. If anyone has any information, please contact me via the contact page on this site.

Cape St Francis Beach

Cape St Francis has one of the most magnificent beaches I know of. Recently, while taking the dogs for a walk, I discovered a part of the beach I never even knew was there. It has a very alien landscape and I was just amazed at this undisturbed piece of nature right under our noses.

Into the city

After staying out in St Francis for a while, it’s quite weird driving back into PE (Port Elizabeth) again. Even though PE is not considered a city by most, it sure is a bustling place.Traffic in PE in the last few years have just increased to such a point that you just do not want to drive around town at all. That’s the nice thing about being out here in St Francis, the roads just never get busy. I mean, like what was peak hour traffic again?

The worst thing here is, tourists. Everyone here drives like they’re on holiday. ‘Hallo, not everyone here is on holiday!!’

Yes, we do miss PE a bit, but I would not trade the quiet out here for anything. There are enough people in St Francis from Port Elizabeth to make us feel at home and besides, PE is just an hours’ drive away!

Old pub in Cape St Francis re-opened

The legendary Full Stop pub in Cape St Francis has been re-opened. Of course we were in attendance on the opening night to see what all the talk about this bar is about. The pub sports quite a large dance area and there is a lot of seating for patrons. There is an outside area with a lapa and braai facilities. We were able to purchase some braai packs from the bar, however I do not know if this will be a permanent feature.

Prices at the bar is quite competitive with other pubs in the area. I never attended the original Full Stop, so I do not know how it compares now. From what I have heard from the locals it was quite legendary.

There are a lot of pictures on the walls of old surfers and surf spots.

Last night there was even locals from St Francis Bay. Keep an eye on my St Francis Community website for more info and possibly some future events.

MyStFrancis, St Francis Community Website

After having moved to St Francis recently I thought it a good idea to create a community website. There aren’t really many of them around on the web so I’m kind of trying to jump the gun.
St Francis is situated on the Garden Route in Eastern Cape, South Africa.I’ve Googled for St Francis Web Designer, but have not really come up with much. So I hope to jump the gun on this one.
St Francis Bay is the main town here with Cape St Francis and Port St Francis as suburbs (I think, don’t quote me on that).

The idea for the site came from the MyPE website which is run by a good friend of mine. When I mentioned to him that I am moving here, the first idea that came to mind of course is, is there a community site for St Francis?

Chokka Block Restaurant in St Francis

Last night we just didn’t feel like cooking so we decided to go to the Chokka Block Restaurant in Port St Francis. Definitely worthwhile. If you are ever in St Francis I would definitely suggest this restaurant.We were surpised to see the place quite full. We booked a table beforehand so there was no waiting. The one drawback is that there is no smoking section.

I had snails for starters and my wife and a friend had calamari. The waiting time was not too long and the starters were delicious.
Then for main course me and my wife both had the line fish, which was Cape Salmon for the evening. I always have Cape Salmon when it’s available on the menu. This was absolutely great. Our guest had a steak and she claims it was grilled just like she wanted it. The waitress made sure our drinks was always topped up and the hosts were very friendly.

Remember this place when you are ever in St Francis. It’s in Port St Francis. I also wrote a review on the new MyStFrancis website, Chokka Block review on MyStFrancis.

In St Francis at last

So we’ve made it to Cape St Francis in one piece, or should I say, many pieces. It’s amazing the crap you accumulate over the years. I remember when we moved to our previous home we managed to throw away about half the contents of our house.
Well our new home in St Francis has less space than the previous one and we had to throw away a lot more.After the 8 ton truck was packed to the brim and I looked at the load, I just thought to myself, I have no idea where we are going to pack everything. While packing I threw out about 5 boxes of books, 3 black bags of collectibles (junk) and gave away 2 fish tanks.
On arrival, I threw out another 2 black bags of collectibles (junk).

So here we are in Cape St Francis. So far I haven’t run into any other web designers or graphic designers, so we will see how it goes. A quick Google for a web designer in St Francis does not bring up many results.

St Francis has expanded quite a bit. Cape St Francis is about 5 km’s away from St Francis Bay. Just outside Port St Francis there is a lookout from where you can see most of St Francis. I was quite shocked to see that even though Cape St Francis and St Francis Bay are 5km’s apart by road, from the lookout you can see that they are in fact not very far from each other with all the new property developments going on.

Up until now we have had pretty crappy weather. It’s been raining on and off and the wind just loves this place.
So everything is unpacked now and it’s back to the grindstone.

To all our customers in Port Elizabeth, please don’t worry, we’re only an hour away. We will still be servicing Port Elizabeth.

Move to St Francis

So we are moving to Cape St Francis in South Africa from Port Elizabeth on the 9th of February 2008. Everything has been set in motion. But now because we are moving from our current place, our landlord thought it a good idea to quickly renovate the place.
There are boxes everywhere, builders, painters, you name it. And they don’t just work in one area at a time, they have to work all over the place. The poor dogs don’t know what’s cooking.

Anyway, been to St Francis Bay this week to work and discuss our contract. Everything’s in order. I’ve already picked up some design work as well as web design work. Oh the joys of being a freelance designer.

Sometimes I wish I could split myself in two. St Francis here we come!

St Francis Bay

St Francis Bay is one of those undiscovered secrets of the Eastern Cape. Only an hour’s drive from Port Elizabeth, it boasts one of the finest pieces of coastline along the Garden Route.Situated about a 30 minute drive from Jeffreys Bay, St Francis Bay is also about 5km from Cape St Francis and between the two is now nested the picturesque Port St Francis.

Of late, the community has been growing quite a lot. This might be related to the addition of the St Francis Links, right by the entrance to St Francis Bay.
